浦添城(中山)は、琉球の歴史上、初めての王統の開祖である
舜天王の居城です。
舜天王統は3代続き、その後、英祖王統→察度王統と変遷していきます。
舜天は、保元の乱で日本を追われた源為朝の子であるという
有名な話があります。
伊波普猷(いは ふゆう)の墓
案内板には、
伊波普猷は、浦添が首里以前の古都であったことを
最初に論じた「浦添考」などすぐれた論文を
発表しています。……
伊波の研究にゆかりの深い浦添の地に墓が作られた。
とあります。
復元中の城壁。
昔は、沖縄のいたる所に琉球松が生えていました。
澄みきった空と青い海。深緑の琉球松 …… 。
ほんとに美しい光景です。

東シナ海と太平洋が眺望できる、
風光明媚な城跡。「浦添城」
浦添城跡もまた、太平洋戦争の際、
激戦地となった場所だそうです。
城跡内には、戦没者慰霊のための「和光地蔵尊」や
慰霊碑、歌碑などが立てられています。
「ディーグガマ」
「琉球国由来記」に記されている
「渡嘉敷嶽」(神名：渡嘉敷オヒヤノ御イベ)
と云われている。
ディーグガマは小さな窪地になっており、
そこには、納骨堂、地蔵菩薩、
浦添王子遺跡、拝所などがある。
